Brownie Museum

Brownie’s dog house was built by the cab drivers at the the Daytona Cab Company. You can read about it here.

Originally, it was built out of cardboard boxes, but after Brownie was hospitalized in 1944, the cab drivers built him a real wooden dog house.

Over the years, a wooden box and other handmade devices were used to collect money for Brownie’s bank account, but this picture shows a coffee can.

“A Good Dog” was written on the dog house at some point, but here the words read “Brownie the town dog”.

The location of the dog house was on the corner of Orange Avenue and Beach Streets. The area now is directly in front of Stavro’s Pizza.

No one knows what happened to the dog house, but I believe it was taken by one of the cab drivers. It would be wonderful to find it in someone’s attic!
