When Alvin and I were toying with opening a dog boutique on Beach Street, the working name for the shop was going to be “Comfort Daytona” or “The Dog Crate”.
Then I happened to read Jane Davis’ article in the News-Journal on Brownie. I immediately visited the Brownie grave and decided that the shop’s name should be Brownie’s Dog Boutique. Jane’s article was the first time I heard about Brownie and his impact on downtown Daytona Beach.
